Kathryn Beck, Beck Botanical Services

Kathryn Beck, is the sole proprietor of Beck Botanical Services, a small, independent, woman-owned business. Ms. Beck has over 25 years of experience as a botanist and field biologist in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Nevada and California. She specializes in designing and implementing rare plant surveys and has particular expertise in identification and taxonomy of rare plants that occur east of the Cascade Mountains. Ms. Beck has been involved in locating, describing and publishing three plant taxa new to science. She is also author of several articles in scientific journals. Ms. Beck teams with SBS and brings taxonomic expertise to botanical survey projects.

GeomorphIS, LLC

Geomorph Information Systems, LLC (GeomorphIS) started in 2004 as a geographic information systems (GIS) firm, and soon branched out to include a full range of ecological consulting support services, including geospatial data management, analysis, and mapping; environmental planning and compliance; natural resources assessment, cultural resources inventory, and biological survey and monitoring. SBS teams with Geomorphis on administering large scale botanical survey projects.

Nikki Hart-Brinkley, Green Top Planning, Development, and Research

Ms. Hart-Brinkley, owner and Principal of Green Top Planning, Development and Research, bring her expert GIS skills to SBS projects. Ms. Hart-Brinkley provides clients with geospatial analysis, geographic data, and cartographic products. She is a Board Member of URISA, the non-profit Urban and Regional Information Systems Association. Green Top teams with SBS and brings mapping products and geospatial analysis to ecological projects.

David Kofranek Botany, LLC

David Kofranek Botany, LLC is a Eugene, Oregon-based sole proprietor botanical consulting company. Mr. Kofrankek is an expert bryologist and lichenologist, and has conducted botanical surveys throughout the Pacific Northwest and in remote areas of Alaska and Steens Mountain. He provides taxonomic identification services for federal and state agencies including The National Park Service, National Monuments, The U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, National Ecological Observation Network, and The Nature Conservancy. Mr. Kofranek teams with SBS on rare plant surveys throughout Oregon and Washington, bringing his expertise on lichens and bryophytes to our team.

Jesse Miller, Ph.D.

Dr. Jesse Miller, is a lichenologist, ecologist and former lecturer at Stanford University, he brings his expertise in lichen taxonomy, serpentine ecology and fire ecology to the SBS team. He also assists our project managers with macros, statistical analysis, and other computer applications in the field. Dr. Miller regularly joins our team with rare plant surveys in California, Oregon and Washington.

Miles Berkey, Cordilleran Ecological Surveys, LLC

Miles Berkey is a botanist that brings expertise in the lichens, bryophytes and invasive plants of the Pacific Northwest to the SBS team. Miles has extensive experience consulting on botanical projects with clients such as the Forest Service, National Parks, Washington DNR and private clients. SBS teams with Miles for collaboration on botany surveys and specimen identification in the Pacific Northwest and California.

Vollmar Natural Lands Consulting, Inc. (VNLC)

VNLC is a California-based natural resources consulting company providing expertise on the technical and regulatory aspects of natural resource assessments, impact analysis, mitigation, conservation, restoration and land stewardship. SBS teams closely with VNLC to take on large scale rare plant and invasive species surveys as well as vegetation mapping projects in Northern California.
